There’s nothing like a getaway. Escaping the city to warmer climates and completely different landscapes mustn’t be missed and there are plenty of interesting places to explore close to the capital.
The one of Colombia’s oldest cities, the municipality of Honda in the Tolima department is 142 km from Bogotá, about a four-hour drive. With an average temperature of 30°C and colonial architecture that will magically transport you to the nostalgia of the past, it’s definitely worth a visit. This so-called City of Bridges, or Ciudad de los Puentes, was the country’s first river port, thanks to its positioning on the edge of the mighty Magdalena River’s right bank. History, water sports, natural reserves, parks and delicious fish…there’s so much to experience here, but don’t just take our word for it.
