ART FOR ALL

Take the chance to get up close and personal with local and international artists and their works of art, and maybe even take home a unique and valuable souvenir. Here’s a round up of the best art fairs and galleries in town.

FAIRS

ARTBO
The best in the international and local art world descend on the city in October, with galleries, curators, artists and the general public coming together to promote cultural exchange and artistic investigation, and to take advantage of unprecedented networking opportunities.

ODEÓN
The country’s largest alternative art fair alternates commercial exhibitions while maintaining an academic angle, made up of talks and information about management, curating and circulating contemporary art. In their last edition, the fair included a special section called ‘Planta Libre’, curated by Miguel López.

FERIA DEL MILLÓN
With the aim of proving that art is not simply a luxury for the wealthy, this fair encourages visitors to buy affordable pieces from rising stars of the scene. All works of art are available for one million pesos or less, allowing those who aren’t specialist collectors to enjoy the arts at home.

BARCÚ
Taking over the stunning colonial houses of La Candelaria, this is the perfect opportunity to support emerging artists who deserve recognition. Enjoy a range of cultural expressions in unforgettable surroundings, ranging from the visual arts and music to cinema, theater and literature.

ARTBO

Latin America’s Most Noteworthy Cultural Exchange Platform.

Throughout October, Bogotá lives and breathes art and culture at ARTBO. Bringing together a carefully selected group of 70 galleries, ARTBO–Feria exhibits longstanding, emerging and cutting-edge art from local and international curators. The notto- be-missed event is held in the Grand Salón at the Corferias exhibition center on the Avenida La Esperanza with Carrera 39 (South Entrance). Over the course of four days, gallery owners, curators, artists and art-lovers come together at one of fine art’s most important platforms for merchandising and cultural exchange in the region. This program will also include the ARTBO–Weekend, a three-day event in May where galleries, museums, installations and self-managing spaces are open to the public free of charge. Admirers can go around the three artistic circuits throughout the city that are open until late at night. However, ARTBO doesn’t stop there. Throughout the year a series of permanent expositions take place under the umbrella name of ARTBO–Salas. Visit the Sala Chapinero (Calle 67 No. 8-32, 1st Floor) to ponder the works at independently curated exhibitions. There’s also ARTBO–Tutor, aimed at fostering the education of emerging, self-taught artists.
