“A different world” is on offer at the eighth edition of Bogotá’s massive and mind blowing three-day music festival, Estéreo Picnic, which takes place at the Parque 222 on March 23, 24 and 25.
Amongst the impressive line-up of 52 big-name acts are rock saviors The Strokes, new pop and R&B icons The Weeknd, the novel electronic music stylings of Deadmau5 and Justice, as well as rapper Wiz Khalifa and DJs Martin Garrix and Flume.
A number of renowned national artists will be flying the flag for Colombia and adding local rhythms to the festival, including the songs of cumbia legend Totó La Momposina, the energetic champeta sounds of Bazurto All Stars and electronic music DJs Julio Garcés and Julio Victoria.
This is one of the country’s largest music festivals and this year 60,000 people are expected to attend, with three stages offering simultaneous shows. A unique addition to this year’s event is the introduction of the Festival Estéreo Picnic official app to help festival-goers ensure they see their favorite musicians and have time to move from stage to stage, allowing users to personalize the festival programme to their own needs, as well as providing an interactive map and a means to set up meeting points with friends.
One of the transport options available is the quaint Sabana train, sponsored by Redd’s, which you can catch from Usaquén, on Carrera 9 with 110. Other options include van rental, a special car service or, if you’re feeling extravagant, a helicopter from the airport.
A whole host of activities will complement the musical offering, including more than 25 food stands as well as an independent design market.
